Wedding Planning Checklist:

Wedding is a day which comes one time in a person’s life thus it is quite a must to plan this day perfectly so as to make it special enough to stay in one’s memories forever. Everyone has dreams for this special day but if the wedding day is not planned properly the dreams would never turn into reality. Therefore there is a need to plan wedding well before time so that the event would not only be memorable for the bride and groom but also for the guests.

As grand as the wedding day is, so are its preparations therefore one must plan it carefully and pay attention to each and every minute detail so that not a single thing would remain unplanned to make your event look disorganized. To plan this special occasion flawlessly the best way is to prepare a wedding planning checklist. For your convenience following is a general wedding planning checklist which you can modify according to your specifications. It is better to start performing tasks mentioned in the checklist as soon as the wedding date is decided; the more time you have, the better you can plan the event (best time duration to plan a wedding is 7 to 9 months prior to wedding date):

  • Decide ‘wedding type’ which will help you determine location, theme, number of guests, wedding time, number of functions (vary from culture to culture).
  • Determine budget
  • Decide on the number of functions and guests to be invited on each day
  • Create a rough guest list
  • Maintain a diary to keep record of expenses.
  • Select wedding location (venue) and book / reserve it, or if you are planning to arrange wedding at home start renovations if required. Keep
  • color scheme in mind.
  • Select bridal dress (it may take two to five visits) and order it. Select and order wedding bands.
  • Select caterer and photographer and set appointment with them well before time so as to avoid last minute rush
  • Select florist, decorator and musicians if the ceremony is arranged at home. In case you are reserving a site confirm if it offers these facilities.
  • Select bridesmaid and her dress
  • Select a wedding party and distribute responsibilities
  • Keep track of the bridal dress you have ordered and as soon as it gets ready see for the fittings and finalize it.
  • Shop for shoes, jewelry and other accessories for bride and bridesmaid.
  • Prepare a list of gifts you may require for the wedding party, parents, or for any special guests and shop for them
  • Select wedding cake and order it.
  • Purchase the accessories for wedding ceremonies according to your customs and rituals. Think hard even for minor things
  • Address invitations and send them at least one month before wedding date.
  • Finalize dresses (for bride, bridesmaid and parents), wedding rings, food and beverage arrangements and confirm the appointments with musicians, caterer, photographer etc.
  • Go for rehearsals if preferable.

Many of the tasks may overlap and you may think a few things can be added to the list, go for it. Visualize the day and see if anything is missing, prepare for it to make the wedding an unforgettable occasion.
